| First home built in The Gleanings |
This is our Baby some might say, Joe's first development. Started in the 1980's,
Gleanings Village has been a GREAT success! It was a community unlike any
other in the county, and still is too this day. Why you ask, what makes it so
different?
Read below as I explain my views as to why and see if your questions get
answered.
As a child this was our play ground, our back yard. Many hours where spent on
the back hoe or in the office meeting new people. It made us three children who
we are today and gave us great friends to play with on the weekends! The
"Spiker kids" were always around, maybe taking a walk, fishing in the pond, or
just playing out late on a summer night. I never thought of how much I learned by
growing up here, until now. We always had a friend to play with, we just had to
take a quick walk in the woods. I think I can speak for my siblings and say this
community and the people treated us good, and still do. Now we get to see the
friends that we made bring their children here to make memories. That is the
sound that you hear as you are standing outside on your deck in the evening.
When you hear the children's laughter, you hear memories being made of the
time when they got to come up to the mountains.
Our little green office still is located in the Gleanings Village and I think that it
will always be there. This is where we started developing and since then have 3
sold out developments under our wing. We are starting 2 more and with time
they will hold precious memories like this one. Those memories will be in my
children's heart. They are growing up just like my brothers and I got too. Time
spent with Pap on the back hoe, hours with mom in the office meeting
customers, or just fishing in the pond with their grandmother. Some might say it
is in our blood, this building thing...Maybe that is what makes our business what
it is today, our family. Sometimes it can get crazy having so many family members
involved. After all last count there are seven of us now, but I do not know
anyone else that can say when they go to work they see their WHOLE family in
just one day or even in just one hour.
This first born is like many, it holds great memories and stories to tell. Spiker
Brothers does not just build houses, but we build communities. We would love
